Personality:
Hong Se, at first glance, is severely disillusioned. He's rebelled against his parents (in a loving fashion, of course) ever since he could remember and is absolutely positive that anything he does that his parents don't like is “cool”. Unfortunately sometimes that doesn't work out so well for him as he gets trampled all over more often than not. He also has a tendency to be a bit of a troll to people he's close to; he loves to play tricks on them and even more so likes to see their reactions when they find out it was him. The repercussions that follow said trolling generally aren't all that desirable however.
But underneath his trouble-making exterior Hong Se is actually lonely. He grew up an only child spoiled by his parents and tried to use traveling as a way to gain friends. Unfortunately it didn't work so well and he is now using Sonnet as a last resort, hoping that someone will break through that outer shell and actually get to know him.
History:
Hong Se grew up the only child of a poor family from Sinnoh. He actually began to travel as a Pokemon trainer at the age of eleven in order to provide money for his parents, thinking in terms of it being a job. But as he got older, the “job” became more of a hobby, and then eventually a career when he realized that he was actually becoming someone strong in the world. As he grew older and continued to send money to his parents, they realized that they were beginning to have more than enough, and he did as well. Thanks to his training his family slowly climbed in the social status until they were wealthy enough to live comfortably for the remainder of their life.
Still, Hong Se didn't stop, continuing to train because of both his relationships with his Pokemon and his goal to eventually become someone recognized and respected in the region. But others stayed away from him, not appreciating his joking or tricks and he eventually became a loner other than his Pokemon, which had stayed with him since his first days as a trainer.
Eventually he made it to Victory Road, but something made him stop there, rather than going on to attempt making his way further into the world. He wanted to go one with teammates, with someone he could go back to and tell about his adventures whether they be triumphant or not. Sure, there was his family, but they were all he had, and he wanted someone else. So he began to camp out where he stopped, simply challenging and tricking the approaching trainers in the hopes that one of them would care enough to stay and chat.
No one ever did.
And then suddenly, a passing trainer mentioned something that became of great interest to him: a new region called Sonnet, where only certain trainers could enter. Hong Se, of course, stuck his nose in where it didn't belong and eventually annoyed so many people with his constant questions that he was sure he only received the letter thanks to others finally getting tired of him. Sending him off was a better idea. He took the letter with clear gratitude, though, using it as his last chance to make something as himself . . .
Additional Information:
He dyes his hair red on a weekly basis because he views it as his signature mark on his appearance. He's not always the brightest crayon in the box. Especially when it comes to relationships. He has a tendency to jump into situations without thinking, which generally doesn't end so well. He likes taking hats. If he sees someone wearing a hat, it's gone. On his head. Or in his pocket. At least until they catch him with it and then he nicely gives it back (it's mostly for attention of course). There's a specific item of clothing he never wears and claims it is for comfort when traveling.
Attacks: Last Resort, Lava Plume, Ember, Fire Fang Ability: Flash Fire
History: When Zhao was a wee Eevee she first gained attention from Hong Se's bright red hair. Fascinated by the bright color and thinking that it may have been a flame (Zhao was quite young indeed), the little Eevee waddled after Hong Se. Se himself was just turning twelve and was only using bugs he'd caught to fight his battles. When he saw Zhao following him he couldn't believe it. In fact he was even worried that she had lost her actual trainer somehow. But eventually it became so that Zhao wouldn't leave his side and he began to take care of her, nurturing and training her until he received a firestone as a gift from a gym leader and she became Flareon. She has been by his side—admiring his hair—ever since.
Name: Whimsicott Nickname: Qiu Gender: Male Nature: Impish
History: Hong Se accidentally tripped over Qiu, thinking he was literally just a ball of fluff laying on the path. Unfortunately he ended up injuring the little guy and had to take him to a PokeCenter. Thinking Qiu wouldn't want to stay with him after that incident he put him back where he found him, only to have the little Pokemon cling to his leg. Ever since then, they've been inseparable.
Name: Plusle Nickname: Peng Gender: Male Nature: Naive
Attacks: Thunder, Copycat, Entertainment, Encore Ability: Plus
History: Hong Se was in the middle of a challenging battle when the sound of Peng crackling filled the air. Once he had a chance, he turned around to find the Plusle with it's electricity-charged pompoms, waving them wildly in the air. Thinking that the Pokemon belonged to his challenger he dismissed it, only to be pleasantly surprised when it cheered more as Zhao beat the current battle. Peng stayed with him although he doesn't use him for battles simply because the rest of his team needs all the cheering it can get.
Name: Krookodile Nickname: Dao Gender: Male Nature: Naughty
History: The moment Hong Se ran into that Sandile he knew he had to have it. He went after the same one over and over again trying to catch it, only for it to elude him (and once it stole his bag, which ended up in a rather odd-looking chase through the grass as he tried to get it back). He suspects that he was finally able to catch the little guy only because it pitied him. Many stolen goods later, he was able to evolve the Pokemon fully and use him as a valuable asset in battles. Nevertheless, he trusts Dao to take care of what he needs to whether it be in battle or out of it. He is a valued member of Hong Se's team.
